Introduction

Make sure you READ THIS BEFORE YOU CONTINUE!

Welcome!

My name is Hattrixx, and I'll be your guide for the duration of your time here. This website has been carefully written and designed to help you develop or improve on your breakbeat programming skills. What I offer here is not THE way to do things, but A way to do things. There is no single correct method of achieving what's taught on this site, but this is what I have personally found to work best throughout years as a producer / engineer. This has been written to help people at entry-level, although many of you more advanced producers out there will also find something useful to learn from this guide.

As for what you need to follow this guide...

  • The will to learn
  • RealPlayer installed to view 2 example movie files (NOT imperative)
  • Some basic music creation tools to follow examples

Please note that even though my examples make use of certain software packages, you should be able to apply the same techniques with completely different packages. It doesn't matter if you're in a top-flight studio, or if you're using a software studio, or a sample tracker. This site is for YOU.

My motivation to put in time, money and effort, is simple. I want to help people make good music, because I love to listen to good music. That's all. If you notice the PayPal DONATE Button on the main menu, understand that that's not there for me to beg that you support this site. It's there for you, if you should happen to find your own reasons to want to make a contribution. That is to say; contribution is your choice, not a requirement.

All I do ask, in return for my help, is if you do learn something here, take the time to visit my personal website. You can also contact me through my personal website, and I'll be more than happy to answer any additional questions you might have regarding this website, or any music production issues, as best I can.

Lastly - a thanks to my good friend, Ben Olding, for the site design. You can view either of our websites at any stage by clicking the links right at the bottom of each page.

Thank you.

LET THE FUN BEGIN!...
